My name is Cortney! I will be graduating with a business management degree from the University of Colorado Denver, but my heart lies in interior design. I currently design residential spaces for a Denver start-up, who does online interior designing. I have been on this creative track ever since elementary school, where my art teacher was my first role model. Each year, she encouraged me to participate in the district art show. I spend my free time watching FRIENDS with my poodle dog. I try to go on as many ice cream dates as possible and also love free shirts, horses, going new places and inspiring others. Besides these things, I play volleyball for my university team and spoil my little sister.
. My name is Peter and I am a psychology major with minors in philosophy, economics, business, and leadership. I plan to continue my education over the next few years earning a graduate degree in counseling psychology. Specifically, I want to work with young children and families suffering from severe trauma. After working a year in the psych department at Children’s Hospital, I decided that I never want to work in a hospital again, but instead wish to own my own private practice. I have always believed that giving someone an outlet, such as art or music, is a great way for them to have a strong sense of self-identity. This, along with the importance of community engagement, has been a strong foundation throughout my life. From running my church youth group and pursuing young adult ministry, to being head counselor at a children’s summer camp, I have promoted youth to take leading roles in their daily activities and their communities. This is something I truly am passionate about and wish to continue within Crafting Yourself, and whatever else the future holds. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Hi! My name is Rachel, and I’ve always loved working with kids. I always loved coming up with ways to entertain the kids I babysat. My passion led me to become a Youth Leader for Middle Schoolers at the church I attended. I am excited to start working with young, bright minds again–but this time through Crafting Yourself. I have been expressing myself through art since before I can remember (but we have the finger-paintings to prove it!). I hope to be able to share this love of creativity and art with others. I can’t wait to see what the kids come up with! One aspect of the program I am particularly excited about is the inter-generational portion. I know we can positively affect the lives of both our children and our seniors through the same activities. ………. Hello, my name is Howe Qiu and I am studying biology at the University of Colorado Denver in hopes of one day becoming a doctor. I love being around kids and I currently volunteer coach kids in Taekwondo and also volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado. As a part of Crafting Yourself, I hope to see young students develop themselves and learn more about their sense of self-identity through arts and crafts, group activities, and inter-generational activities … My name is Kevin Fournier. I am a Colorado native currently pursuing a degree in the film and television arts, with a specialization in directing and screenwriting. Art is something that has been immensely important to me through my entire life, and I have a strong desire to cultivate artistic interest in others.
